Mr Alex Chowdhury

Mr Alex Chowdhury is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, based at Hampshire Hospitals (Basingstoke and Winchester). He specialises in Shoulder and Elbow surgery. He graduated from King’s College London in 2013, with distinctions in Clinical Medicine and Clinical Sciences, followed by an MSc in Surgical Innovation from Imperial College London. He completed his Orthopaedic Specialty training in the Wessex Deanery, including an in-training fellowship in Upper Limb Surgery at Hampshire Hospitals. He undertook further renowned international fellowships in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the University of Otago, Christchurch and Waikato Hospital, both in New Zealand.

Mr Chowdhury’s research is widely published in peer reviewed journals, and he has frequently presented at prominent national and international conferences. He is involved in cutting-edge research on clavicle fractures, arthroscopy and arthroplasty, working with international research teams. He is also an active educator, lecturing at the University of Otago and contributing as an editor for UKITE examinations.

Through his training and academic experience, he has developed a specialist interest in complex upper limb trauma, advanced arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures and joint replacement for the shoulder and elbow.
