Dr Kelly graduated from Liverpool medical school with honours (MB.ChB. Hons).
He also holds a 1st class BSc degree in pharmacology (how drugs work) and a higher medical research degree (MD), for his work on mechanisms of development of heart failure post heart attack. In addition to full training in general cardiology he also completed 3 sub-speciality fellowship years in heart failure, cardiac devices and electrophysiology.
Dr Kelly is a department lead for pacemakers and complex cardiac devices. He has a specialist interest in the management of heart failure. He has an additional interest in the management of heart rhythm disturbances.
