Candover Clinic is able to offer two key diagnostic studies:
- Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS): to measure how well and how fast electrical signals travel along your nerves
- Electromyography (EMG): to assess the health of muscles and the nerves that control them

Symptoms and Investigations
There are a range of symptoms that people may experience that lead to these investigations including:
- Numbness, tingling, burning, or pins and needles
- Weakness in arms. legs, or hands (e.g. dropping objects, foot drop, claw hand)
- Muscle cramps, twitching, or wasting
- Shooting pains
- Fatigue or muscle weakness that gets worse with activity (e.g. difficulty keeping eyelids open, trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing)
- Unexplained balance problems
- Weakness or numbness following trauma, road traffic accidents, fractures
- For monitoring known cases of neuropathy like Guillain Barre syndrome, CIDP, nerve injuries etc.
Conditions that may benefit from Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG)
These investigations can help in the diagnosis and management of conditions such as:
- Peripheral nerve entrapments (carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy)
- Peripheral neuropathies (including diabetic neuropathy)
- Nerve root compression (such as sciatica or cervical radiculopathy)
- Plexopathies (nerve injuries of the brachial or lumbosacral plexus)
- Traumatic peripheral nerve injuries

Referrals are accepted from GPs, neurologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals. Self-funded patients and those with private medical insurance are welcome.
