What is Health Screening?
Health screening incorporates a review of your medical history, a physical examination, a set of medical tests and a report including clinical findings and follow-up recommendations. Our comprehensive screening packages are appropriately designed for specific age and gender groups. The earliest detection of symptoms is well known to improve medical outcomes. Lifestyle changes might avoid some illnesses altogether. At the very least health screening provides you with peace of mind.
What To Expect
Our health screening service is provided in partnership with our Private GP Dr Alison Johnstone. Your health screening session will be completed within 3 to 4 hours depending on your screening package.
We offer several Health Screening programs and the choice is dependent on age and gender. Additional items may be recommended following your initial assessment and may be provided at an additional cost. Details on the packages can be found in the table below.
|Screening Program||Package||Package Price|
|Women under 45||A||£577|
|Women aged 45 and over||B||£616|
|Men under 45||C||£566|
|Men from the age of 45 to 59||D||£605|
|Men aged 60 and over||E||£839|
Your appointment will be booked at your convenience with Dr. Johnstone’s private secretary by calling 07867 768582 or email email@example.com. You will be asked some questions about your health and medication to ensure the appropriate assessment is booked for you.
Health Screening is not suitable if you have a long-term pre-existing condition. Health screening is also not for people who already have symptoms. If you have symptoms you should make an appointment with a GP.
Prior to your appointment you will receive a medical questionnaire either by post or email at your option. Please return the completed questionnaire by email or post 48 hours prior to your appointment if possible. Please also bring any other relevant medical documentation such as consultant letters or diagnostic results if available.
You will be required to fast for 12 hours prior to your appointment taking sips of water only. Food will be available following your blood tests.
Consultation and Medical Review
Initially you will see Dr. Johnstone for a consultation, review of your medical history and a physical examination. If any additional diagnostics are indicated Dr. Johnstone will discuss and agree them with you. The diagnostics may then be added to your health screening program.
Following your consultation you will be transferred to the care of our outpatient nurses who will guide you through the program of assessments and diagnostic tests. Some diagnostics (e.g. DEXA) require a visit to another of our hospital sites and could be scheduled for a different day. Tests can include taking your blood pressure, measuring your height and weight, blood tests, urine tests and an ECG.
Results and Report
Your results will be returned to Dr. Johnstone for review, usually within two working days. A complete report will normally be compiled and available within 7 days. Dr. Johnstone will call you with your results. It may be appropriate to have a further in-person consultation, which can be booked at your convenience.
Clinical issues arising from your health screening may require a referral to aGP, specialist or consultant. Candover offer a wide selection of in-house specialists who you may be referred to and Dr. Johnstone will discuss this with you at the time of your follow-up call and/or consultation. Further treatment or care can be provided at Candover Clinic.
